The city tower is administered by the Jindřichův Hradec Museum as an observation tower, although other various events take place there too. On several occasions there was a ceremonial trumpet calling, for example; at another time it became the location of an art happening organized by renowned artist Antonín Málek; in 2008 it was exceptionally opened late at night during the Museum Night festival. Furthermore,
it has been a tradition for over ten years to do the annual sporting/entertainment competition ”Běž na věž” (Run up the Tower), where participants can measure their strength to see who can conquer the tower most quickly and win the Museum Director’s Cup for the year.
